Wheel chair users can now drive in peace. You see, in Washington, will be shown to the public a special car for wheelchair users, VPG MV-1.

As reported by Autoevolution, Thursday (22/07/2010) CEO of the Vehicle Production Group (VPG), Dave Schembri and Executive Director for the National Council on Independent Living, Kelly Buckland will present her car.

MV-1 is the only car in the world specifically designed for wheelchair users, with the door as high as 56 inches and 36 inches wide, thus freely accessible to wheelchair.

This car carrying five passengers plus can driver, and two places for wheel chairs facing forward, with load power ramp to reach 1200 pounds.

MV-1 is also equipped with power windows, cruise control, driver information center, power adjustable, self-folding side-view mirrors and the sixth position seating arrangements.

While the hood reversed, saved a Ford 4.6 liter engine EFI V8 2v, which mated with a 4R75E transmission Electronic 4 Speed Automatic with overdrive.

The engine will be offered in a choice of petrol and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

MV-1 will be manufactured in a factory AM General in Mishawaka, Indiana, and will start rolling into the assembly line late this year, with prices yet to be determined.

VPG premiere of MV-1 also marked the 20th anniversary of the inauguration of Law with Disabilities Act (ADA).
